The owners’ design for a more humble ‘surf shack’ is expressed through simplicity of form, active street presence, and focus on indoor-outdoor connections.
This home stands in contrast to the highly-articulated homes dominated by tuck-under parking and storage which have replaced the modest, simple structures that historically gave beach towns a coherent architectural charm.
The first floor consists of a den/office and three guest rooms, all connected by a hallway that leads from the front porch to the back door.
The second floor consists of the primary living areas: open living / kitchen / dining connects to an outdoor living room and a screened-in dining room. The main bedroom suite, also on the second floor, connects to a lower roof terrace and an upper observation roof deck with sunrise and sunset views.
